The info in the faq is fairly limited unfortunately:
How do I add an avatar image to my account page?

Simply drag an image over or mouseover the icon on your "My Library" page > click "Submit > wait for tasks to run and then refresh the page

How do I add an avatar image to my favorites page?

Simply drag an image over or mouseover the icon on your "My Favorites" page > click "Submit > wait for tasks to run and then refresh the page.
The images seem to be limited by archive.org to a maximum of 300 pixels wide (on screen, not image size) style="max-width: 300px;", and is showing on my screen as approx. 98 pixels high.
Your image is 640x943 pixels in actual size, which is scaled on screen to approximately 68x98 pixels (I might be a few pixels out).
When I zoom in via my browser the image visually seems not to be so stretched-out on my screen, so the stretched appearance might be at least partially an optical illusion.
You could try re-cropping the original image to approximately equal width and height, and see if it appears any better on screen.

I'll check back later to see if you've had any luck.

That makes sense to me now.

You could try re-cropping the original image to approximately equal width and height, and see if it appears any better on screen.

But how do I do this though?

That depends on what sort of system you're using, or you could try an on-line editor:

Windows has the very basic "paint", or there is gimp for various platforms if you want something more advanced that's free. There are also many free intermediate image editors, though I'm not familiar with them.

Good luck.
